Best Birchbox yet!

I am thrilled with the contents of this month's Birchbox. Happy Valentine's Day to me!

1st up: The beautyblender! This product is in every beauty blog, magazine, and article I read. I have really wanted to get one, but I was having a hard time parting with $25, with what appeared to be 2 sponges. However, I tested this baby out today and it really does an nice job with evenly applying foundation. Love it!
Next: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. I have heard of this brand but never tried anything by them. This is actually a powder that you mix with a bit of water to form a paste. It smells great and left my skin felling awesome.

Ok this next item is something I didn't even know existed, but really cool. Eye Rock Designer Liner. It's basically press-on eyeliner...but exotic eyeliner...if you are looking for a crazy cat eyes this is your answer. Didn't try this yet - waiting for a special occasion :)

Other goodies in my box this month included: Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint, a heart shaped nail file, and some free music downloads.

Well done Birchbox! See ya in March!

Work hair?

Gotta little crazy with my hair this morning before heading to work...

Messy chignon with a braided headband (just hair and bobby pins)

I was inspired by some of these celebrity looks...

P.S. if your hair isn't long enough to braid to form a headband, you can always opt for one of these faux ones :)

See ya jewelry box!

A while back I decided something had to be done with the chaos that was happening in my jewelry box. Necklaces had formed one large knot of chains, all my earrings were missing there mate; it was a mess! Plus on top of it being cluttered -I couldn't see anything I actually had. I came up with a simple solution: A PEG BOARD.

$15 dollars later and a trip the The Home Depot I came up with this:

I think I need to add some more hooks...and get some new jewelry :)
Now most of my jewelry and accessories including: belts, headbands and bags have a home. So far this system is working wanders. So well in fact, that I recommended it to my friend Kim. She to was dealing with the same predicament and was going to go the cork board route. I told her about my project and not only did she create one in her closet too...hers is prettier and cooler :( oh well... Good job Kim you win :)

She painted her board to match the wall color and added a bow...what an overachiever :)

What happened to TV?

Besides the fact that if feels like reality TV has taken over every channel and turned our brains to mush (and by ours I mean mine :) )....I will tell you what is really missing from the boob tube....a good ole intro song!

Hello? It doesn't matter how corny or mediocre a TV show used to be...if it had a good catchy opener.. I was in!

"As long as we got each other...la la la" oh Kirk Cameron you were too cute...

Or how about "the milkman, the paperboy, and evening TV"....too bad TGIF doesn't' come on tonight :)

Ok this one has no words...but really with a show like this who needs words?

I can still recite every word of this gem...

I think you might be able to figure out my age based on my choices by now...

This one may have been a bit before my time...but thank goodness for Nick and Nite

Ok this one is goes with out saying...

Some honorable mentions:

Family Ties....shaa la la la
The Wonder Years....I know its a real song but still great
California Dreams.....you must be between 27 and 35 to appreciate
Cheers...duh
The Patty Duke Show...again thank you Nick and Nite...I was a different kinda kid :)

What are some theme songs you know by heart?

P.S. you are welcome for me getting these songs stuck in your head for the weekend

Goodbye Christmas see ya next year...

Can't I just leave these decorations out til next year? The neighbors won't mind, right?

Unfortunately they WILL mind and the HOA will slap me with a fine come the end of the month if they catch any twinkling going on at my house...ba-hum-bug.

Whatever, I think I am actually ready to have my house back to normal. So this weekend I started with the lights, and in an attempt to "get organized in 2012" ... I tried to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I came up with this little trick last year and it made things so much easier this year when it came to unpacking.

First you find a box that is shallow and will allow you to store all your x-mas lights inside it.

Second cut off the box's lid...then create the letter "I" out of them like this:

Then neatly wrap your lights. I got two 100 light strands around this one. Try and plug the strand's ends into itself, (if that makes sense) to keep the the ends from dangling.

Now, because your "I" is the exact width of your box, you can store it back inside for a perfect fit! All your "I"s can be lined up like a file cabinet of lights, ready to go for next year.

OK one decoration down...1000 to go ....
